Story:

Siddharth is a happy-go-lucky guy whose parents(Prakash raj, Ramya Krishna) get seperated in his childhood . He falls in love with Geetha(Tamannah), a traditional village girl who comes to the city for her studies. Geetha's father(Nasser) doesn't agree for their marriage citing the hero's parents' parting. The rest of the story is how siddharth unites his parents and wins his love.

Artistes' Performance:

Siddharth is very good in the role of a sincere lover and a lovable son. He puts in a lot of energy in to his role. This kind of roles are not new for him and he shows natural elaan.Tamannah suits the role well as his love. She has improved a lot from her previous films. Prakash raj excels in the role of Siddhu's father. Ramya krishna is not so good in the role of Hero's mother. Jaya sudha could have been a very good choice. Nasser is apt as the father of the heroine. Brahmanandam as 'Gachibowli Diwakar' and Venu madhav provide comic relief. The friend-gang of the hero and heroine are good.

Direction:

Director Kishore Kumar makes his debut with this film. The first half of the film deals with the romance of the lead pair and the second half is about the the re-union of the hero's parents. The story of the film is not new but the director shows novelty in dealing with this kind of subject. The songs are well-picturized. Especially the songs 'Konchem istam konchem kastam', 'Egire egire', 'Aanandama', 'Panchirey' are a feast to the eyes. The climax of the film, though dragged, fits the bill. Direction of the film is good in some scenes. The following scenes are well-made

1. The concept of 'Nammakam' by the heroine

2. The Geetanjali episode

3. The concept of crossing marks, again by the heroine

4. The hero apologizing when he is drunk

5. The way the song 'Konchem istam konchem kastam' song is used

6. The lead-pair's efforts to regenerate love between hero's parents

However, the basic plot of the film arond which the story is woven- the parting of the hero's parents, is not well-established. The narration of the film is slow. It picks up momentum in the beginning of the second half but slackens after the 'Konchem istam konchem kastam' song. The director couldn't avoid a lot of melodrama in the climax of the film. Duration of the film is too long and the climax of the film is a little bit dragged.

Technical Departments:

Music by Shankar-ehsaan-loy is top-notch. Infact the songs add more value to the film. Lyrics by Siri vennela Seetha ram sastry, Chandra bose and Ramajogayya Sastri are excellent. Editing is not that good. Especially the scenes doesn't appear to be in a flow. The six-time National award winner(Srikar Prasad) could have done better. Cinematography by Vijay C Chakravarthy needs special mention. His Camera work carries the mood and tempo of the film. The Vibrant colours and light work makes the film a visual wonder. Art work is good. Back ground score by Mani sarma is adequate. Dialogues by Bommarillu fame Abburi Ravi are good at parts. The dialogues in which the heroine's father explains why he doesn't accept her lover(nee istam), Brahmanandam's dialogue, "break kaalitho vesananukunnava, ledura jaalitho vesanu" are very nice. The dialogues which form the climax of the film are also well-written. Technically the film is sound, and the producer is praise-worthy, for providing with good technicians, to a debut director

Review:

On the whole 'Konchem Istam Konchem Kastam'  is a movie that can be watched for its lead pair and  a couple of subtle performances and well-picturized songs . The success of the film depends on how it appeals to the family audience.
